Perry Announces New DMACC Center
September 9, 2009

Perry Economic Development announced plans to construct a $3.1 million Des Moines Area Community College center in downtown Perry.  Funding awarded from the I-JOBS Local Infrastructure Program opened up the opportunity for the community of Perry and DMACC to trun their college center plans into reality.  The Greater Dallas County Development Alliance completed the application on behalf of Perry Economic Development, to successfully garner $1.55 million awarded from the I-JOBS program.

The center will offer vocational and technical training to high school students in areas such as criminal justices, health occupations, auto technology, building trades, computer technologies, and culinary arts.  Vocational and technical training and college credit courses will be available to working adults in the evenings and weekend.  English as a Second Language courses will be offered for the large Latino population in the community of Perry.  The DMACC Center will help meet the need for a skilled workforce and provide an economic boost to the area.
