The Alliance was recently awarded $50,000 from the Iowa Office of Energy Independence’s Iowa Power Fund Community Grant to create a sustainable training program for Dallas County communities/local groups that will include 17 general sustainability educational workshops and customized workshops on the areas of: renewable energy, green building and streetscapes, green housing, sustainable policy and planning, and sustainable economic development.

 

The workshops will begin in May 2010 and wrap up by late October 2010.  Our goal is to build capacity within local officials, community groups, and even businesses and residents which will allow them to develop a vision for sustainable initiatives and learn how to act upon their vision.
