WDM Insurance Company Expands, Creates Jobs

Midland National Life Insurance Company is planning to expand their West Des Moines operations by leasing a larger facility in the city, with an expected occupancy of early 2010.  The company\'s expansion will include the creation of 86 jobs to their 330-plus existing employment and a capital investment of $9.28 million with plans to remodel, furnish and provide technology updates to the new facility.  
 
Through the decision-making and planning processes of the project, Midland National work with the City of West Des Moines, Des Moines Area Community College, Greater Dallas County Development Alliance, Greater Des Moines Partnership and the Iowa Department of Economic Development.  

The economic development team assisted in garnering the following assistance for Midland National\'s project: $125,000 half forgivable loan from the Grow Iowa Values Financial Assistance Program (GIVFAP), tax benefits from the High Quality Job Program, $25,000 loan from the City of West Des Moines and $404,500 in job training funds.
